First Floor Framing - Part 1

The framers were busy today!! They started and just about finished the first floor framing today in about 12 hours. We're hopeful that they will set the roof trusses around lunchtime. The roof trusses are attic trusses, which include the 2nd floor framing. The deck guys are coming out tomorrow as well to build the screened porch and grille deck. It's really starting to feel like our home now.

2nd Photo - Side of house, basement garage. Opening above is for a sliding door to lead to the grille deck.

Sub-Floors and Back-Filling

The framers came out this morning and put the sub-floors on the trusses. The graders are there as well, back-filling and doing a rough grade of the yard, in addition to filling the upstairs garage with stone. We are hoping to have lumber delivered for the 1st floor this afternoon, so the framers can get moving on that tomorrow.

Floor Trusses

Yesterday, the floor trusses were installed. Essentially they divide the basement ceiling from the first floor floors, if that makes sense. In the trusses, we will run duct work and electrical wires.
1st PHOTO: View of the house from the street. The top of the trusses are about level/even with the street.
2nd PHOTO: View from the front of the unfinished portion basement, looking to the back.
3rd PHOTO: View from the back of the garage basement, looking to the front.

We passed the open floor inspection this morning, so the framers are there now laying the sub-floor for the 1st floor. We are waiting on temporary stairs - leading from the basement to the soon to be 1st floor. The concrete guys are there as well today putting in the remaining footers needed for the screened porch and the grille deck. Tomorrow, the grading crew is coming to back fill and do a rough grade of the lot. The lot should look a lot different tomorrow evening!!

Basement Floor, Part 1

Here are some pics from around 1:00 this afternoon. Concrete was poured for the basement floor and for the footings (for the upper garage walls). Depending on the weather, we might try to go back out to tonight and get some more pics of the basement floors from the back of the lot.

Basement slab prep

Here are some pics from last night's basement slab prep. They are finishing up with that this morning, and hopefully will begin pouring concrete this afternoon for the basement floor. We're crossing our fingers that possible rain doesn't halt the process...

Tile and Carpet, oh my!

We spent our Sunday morning at the Tile Showroom. Decisions, decisions! We picked out floor tile, kitchen backsplash, master bath/shower tile, and carpet in about an hour ~ with 2 kids in tow. Not too bad!!
TOP PHOTO: (ingore the granite that the tile in sitting on) On the far right is our kitchen backsplash. Bottom left is the floor tile for foyer, kitchen, hall, and bathrooms (16x16). Above the floor tile is the decorative tile that we will cut apart into 3 strips (so it's about 4" tall) and use that in our shower and around the bath. So pretty in real life. It's a combination of glass and stone.
MIDDLE PHOTO: Sample of the carpet for the craft room/office.
BOTTOM PHOTO: Sample of the carpet for living room, bedrooms, and upstairs.

We're hoping and praying to pour the basement slab and begin framing the remaining basement walls by the end of the week. Pics to follow...

Slowly, but surely...

The construction slowed down this week, but we're hoping and praying to get moving again on Monday. So far this week, the plumbers have done the rough plumbing for the basement - for a future bathroom and for the basement garage sink/floor drain.
Last Saturday, we picked out granite for the kitchen (New Caledonia) and bathrooms (Giallo Santacecilia and Giallo Ornamental). They put our name on huge slabs, so we know exactly which ones we're getting. Can't wait to see them in the house! ;)
This coming weekend, we hope to pick out tile for the floors (foyer, kitchen, laundry room, bathrooms) and back-splash for the kitchen. No hardwoods in this house, since the floor breaks in the house plan don't really allow for a good line between hardwood and tile. With as messy as we are in the kitchen, there's no way we could have hardwoods there.

The Basement Walls are Here Part 1

The precast basement walls were delivered and set today thanks to Ideal Precast. Monday is under slab plumbing followed Tuesday by the prep for the rest of the basement slab.

Stone

The stone shooters came out yesterday and sprayed stone - which will go under our basement walls (in lieu of footers). Basement walls are scheduled to be delivered and set up today. I'll post pics later.
Top Pic - Pile of dirt, that will eventually go in the front of the house
