Dry Wall is messy...

Here is a pic from last night. At 6:30 last evening, the drywallers were putting up the last few pieces of drywall in the basement stairway. The house was a complete mess - there were scraps of drwall everywhere. This morning, another drywall crew came in and cleaned up all of the scraps and swept the house. This afternoon, a different drywall crew came in started putting up tape and mud. We're heading to the house in a bit. Hopefully the house is a bit cleaner than last night. Pics to follow. The photo is from the back of the house looking forward into the kitchen area.

1 side done, 3 more to go...

The siding guys finished up the 1st side yesterday. Depending on the weather (we're forecasted to get rain today), they hope to work some today. Also, the drywall crew is coming out this morning to hang the drywall. Chris says it should only take a half day to hang it, and then about 3-4 days to tape, mud, and sand it. I cannot wait to see the house later today with drywall up!! Many pics to come asap!!

Siding, Insulation, and Concrete

Another busy Monday at the house! The siding crew came out and started putting up the siding. It is primed at the factory, and will be painted once it is all hung/caulked, etc. The siding is a type of fiber cement, similar to what we used with our last house. The concrete guys came out and poured the floor for the main garage, as well as the front "porch". It's really too small to be called a porch, but it'll be the landing from the front door, leading down some slate/stone steps to a sidewalk. And the insulators came out and hung the batting/traditional batting. We are on for an insulation inspection tomorrow, and the dry wallers are on stand-by - ready to come hang drywall asap. We are hoping to have the base cabinets installed in the kitchen on Saturday, so that on Monday, the granite company can come out and get a template for our granite slab. It's getting there...slowly, but surely...

Insulation Part 1

Here are a couple of pics of the spray foam insulation that was done today. They insulated all of the exterior facing walls. Tomorrow, they will finish up with traditional batting insulation. Monday morning will be the insulation inspection, then the dry wallers can begin.

Shingles today, Insulation tomorrow...

It was a very busy day at the house today. The electricians finished up their rough-ins. The roofers put most of the shigles on. We passed our big inspection - framing, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing. The insulators are coming tomorrow to blow insulation, and then another crew will come on Friday to hang the regular insulation. Our goal with this house is to be as energy effecient as possible. We hope to have an insulation inspection on Monday, so the drywallers can start to hang drywall Monday afternoon.
